• Loveguide: Sexual health education in Bulgaria

    Loveguide is effective sexual health education for mainstream teenagers in Bulgaria. We have exhaustive online resources, including a YouTube vlog with new episodes every week. Also, we have classes in schools all around the country and peer-to-peer training seminars. All of our content and everything we do is open, honest, friendly and accessible, especially designed to be liked and embraced by teens.

    How do we know that we are effective? In 2016 we tested our approach with hundreds of teens offline and thousands online, and with their teachers and parents. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive: “Finally the right information, in the right way.”

    Why do we do it? In Bulgaria, there is no sexual health education at schools and sex is taboo at home. So, the country is leading all the European negative statistics related to youth’s sexual health. The demand from parents and teachers to fill in the gaps in sexual health education is growing and Loveguide is meeting this need.

    In 2017, our challenge is to scale up and grow. That is why the StarteryCEE programme and especially the two-week workshops in Social Impact in Berlin was a great opportunity for learning and exchanging ideas with creative and seasoned social entrepreneurs from the region and Russia. We share similar problems when it comes to the eco system we live in and brainstorming on solutions together was a pretty valuable experience.

    I liked a lot the workshop on social impact analysis, since Loveguide has reached the point where we have to evaluate the outcomes from our work, improve our methodology and methods based on this analysis and share the results with our stakeholders. In Berlin, I got acquainted with a great tool and was able to pin down our impact analysis pathway.

    Also, I could develop further Loveguide’s business model and got some very good insights on it too.

    I highly recommend to young social start-ups from CEE to apply in 2017. It’s a truly good opportunity.
