• Startery CEE – best 30 social start-ups are chosen as finalists and going to 4 day Summit @SAP in Bulgaria

Meet the finalists of Startery CEE - 30 innovative social start-ups going to Bulgaria

SAP, Social Impact and Ashoka have joined forces and invited CEE social start-ups for a challenge – Startery CEE. All start-ups that have ideas with a social impact, could apply and we are happy to announce that more than 70 start-ups from CEE send their application. After a selection process Social Impact and SAP choose 30 finalists. The finalists will attend a 4 day Summit @SAP in Bulgaria, where they will build up on their ideas. The finalists are coming from 8 countries: Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia, Albania, Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary. Their ideas vary from a mobile application, which reveals the true nutrition information of packaged food to consumers, to a portal for employment of prisoners in private companies and public institutions. At the final event, happening 13th of November in Sofia Bulgaria, a special Startery CEE jury will select 3 winners, which will get opportunity to upgrade the idea and business model at Social impact Lab in Berlin.

The winners will be selected by jury, consisting of:

    • Simon Kaluža (Managing Director, SAP CEE),
    • Norbert Kunz (CEO @Social Impact),
    • Kevin Aspregen (President of American University in Bulgaria (AUBG)),
    • Stanislav Nikolaev (Venture Partner @Empower Capital Fund),
    • Anna-Marie Vilamovska (Secretary for Innovation and Healthcare, Administration of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria),
    • Alexey Lazarov (Editor @Capital newspaper).

“We are proud to support Startery CEE and the ideas with social impact. The ideas were splendid and really show the power of entrepreneurial thinking of young people around CEE. For that I’m proud on all that have applied and of course on the 30 finalists. I’m looking forward for the final pitch, where I and my fellow jury members will be assessing presented ideas by numerous criteria, to select 3 winners,” said Simon Kaluža, managing director SAP CEE and one of jury members.
