The 3 Winners of Startery CEE 2017
The 3 winners of Startery Central and Eastern Europe 2017 have been selected at the Final Pitch event in Budapest by the high-profile expert jury, consisting of Eszter Szabo (Angel investor and Honorary Professor at BGE, the leading business school of Hungary), Norbert Kunz (CEO of Social Impact and one of the most successful social entrepreneurs in Germany), Anna Horvath (Portfolio Director at Visegrad Hub) and Robin Marshall (Editor-in-chief at the Budapest Business Journal).
The three winners come from Czech Republic, Albania and Serbia.
- Eva Dudova from the Czech Republic won with her project Přestupní stanice / Transfer Station, a social enterprise that focuses on empowering homeless people by offering them temporary jobs, as well as organizing cultural events for the community around us. Transfer Station offers fair part-time jobs in a second-hand charity shop with donated clothes and a stable and friendly place for dealing with issues connected to homelessness, such as debts, sustainable living places, health and relationships.
- Suela Kocibellinj from Albania convinced the Jury with her Social Start-up Hopla-Clothes with Conscience. The mission of Hopla-Clothes with Conscience is to up cycle adult clothes to Mom, Dad and KIDS wear, to produce fashion with love and conscience through adding cultural value, handmade details, with Albanian spirit, as a possibility to empower women to become financially independent.
- Anja Carapic co-founded the social start-up UrbiGo in Serbia. UrbiGo is smart vertical garden that changes the way people consume food in urban areas. Made out of sustainable and recycled materials, UrbiGo communicates with users via smart app which serves as a platform for tracking your plants progress and education about importance of urban gardening.
